Our StoryAlthough we have known each other since junior high, our story really begins during our freshman year at UCSD where we became close friends...and then more than friends. We've officially been together since March 25, 2002! In 2005 we graduated from UCSD and Scott left for an internship at Google and a Masters program at Stanford while Jess stayed in San Diego. After a year of long distance Jess decided to pack her bags and try her luck in the Bay Area as well. Once Scott finished his MS in Computer Science, we decided to move to the lovely city by the bay, where we've been ever since! The ProposalWe got engaged on December 31, 2008 in Central Park in New York City. Scott knew he wanted to propose in Central Park but we didn't make it out there until our last day of the trip, also the coldest day of our trip! We were walking in the snow and trying to keep warm when Scott said to Jess, "I have to ask you a question" and handed her a box. Jess was completely taken aback. After a lot of happy hugging and tears (and photos) we went back to our hotel to announce the amazing news to just about everyone we know. | ScottScott is a Software Engineer at Google in San Francisco where he works on the Machine Database team. Scott likes reading (especially Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series which he is still trying to get Jess to read), drinking root beer, new high-tech toys, following politics, and becoming hopelessly addicted to TV shows with Jess (recent notable series include The Wire and How I Met Your Mother). Scott received his BS in Computer Science from UCSD and a MS in Computer Science from Stanford. JessJess works on Google's University Programs team, managing campus strategy and outreach for 7 universities. A self-described cupcake addict, Jess loves to photograph, read about, bake, and (of course) eat cupcakes. She also enjoys photography, new adventures, reading fiction, trying new restaurants, traveling, and exploring San Francisco. Jess received her BA in English and Italian Literatures from UCSD and spent 4 months studying in Trento, Italy. |
